לקרוס (באנגלית: Lacrosse) הוא ספורט קבוצתי שבו השחקנים משתמשים במקל שבקצהו רשת כדי למסור ולתפוס כדור גומי קשיח במטרה להכניס אותו לתוך שער הקבוצה היריבה. במשחק על פי ארגון MLL שעון הזריקות עומד על 30 שניות ואילו על פי ארגון NLL הוא עומד על 60 שניות. מקור המשחק בצפון אמריקה והוא ספורט הקיץ הלאומי של קנדה.
בלקרוס גברים, בגרסתו העכשווית, משחקים בקיץ במגרש דשא או דשא מלאכותי. משחקים בכל קבוצה עשרה שחקנים - שלושה תוקפים, שלושה מגינים, שלושה קשרים ושוער. בחורף משוחק לקרוס בתוך אולם.
היסטוריה
לקרוס הומצא על ידי ילידי צפון אמריקה והשם לקרוס נתן למשחק על ידי משקיפים צרפתיים. המשחק נחשף למערב כאשר המסיונר הישועי הצרפתי, ז'אן דה ברבף (Jean-de-Brébeuf), צפה במשחק ב-1636 ואף הזכיר את המשחק בספרו יחסי הישועיים בסביבות 1640. ללקרוס באופן מסורתי היו ייעודים רבים כולל ישוב סכסוכים ואמון לוחמים צעירים. לעתים שחקו את המשחק במגרש מעל קילומטר באורכו ונמשך לפעמים ימים ובכל צד שחקו 100 עד 1,000 שחקנים. עד המאה ה-19, לקרוס התפתח למשחק פחות אלים ומתיישבים צרפתיים החלו לשחק אותו. ב-1856 רופא שיניים קנדי, ד"ר וויליאם ג'וג' בירס, הקים את מועדון הלקרוס של מונטריאול וב-1867 תעד את חוקי המשחק, במסגרת תיעוד זה הוא קיצר את משך המשחק וצמצם את מספר השחקנים לעשרה בכל צד.
