Parcours
Een parcours is een (bij een wedstrijd) te volgen route. Als het parcours rondloopt (start- en eindpunt sluiten aan elkaar aan) spreekt men van een circuit. Binnen stadions heeft men het dan over een sintelbaan.
Het uitzetten van een parcours voor officiële wedstrijden moet uiteraard met nauwkeurigheid gebeuren. Niet alleen de lengte moet kloppen, denk bijvoorbeeld aan een marathon, er moeten ook hindernissen zijn, zoals de cols in de etappes van de Tour de France.
Het woord wordt ook wel overdrachtelijk gebruikt, bijvoorbeeld in het af te leggen parcours van een project, waarmee de achtereenvolgende nodige stappen (handelingen, besluiten e.d.) worden bedoeld.
