Ryan McNeil was a fictional character from the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He was portrayed by actor Scott Reeves from May 1991 until November 27, 2001.[1]

Much of Ryan's history revolved around his romances with Victoria Newman,[2] Nina Webster and Tricia Dennison.[3] Ryan died onscreen in November 2001 when Tricia, his ex-wife, shot him to death.[4]

  Storylines

While working in the mail room at Newman Enterprises, Ryan met Victoria Newman, the daughter of the company's founder and CEO, Victor Newman. The two fell in love and soon married. Victoria refused to consummate their relationship, so Ryan sought comfort with widow Nina Webster. Upon discovering her husband's affair with Nina, Victoria divorced Ryan. He then moved in with Nina and her son, Phillip Chancellor IV, and he later married Nina out of obligation.

Ryan eventually developed real feelings for Nina. However, Nina fell for novelist Cole Howard. When Cole rejected her, she suffered a nervous breakdown, alienating Ryan and pushing him into the arms of the younger Tricia Dennison. Nina began to lose her mind as held a gun to her head, telling Ryan that she was going to kill herself. Ryan struggled with Nina for the gun. A shot rang out as Nina fell to the floor, but she survived. While she was in hospital with amnesia, Ryan was charged with shooting Nina. Nina eventually regained her memory, and she told the police the truth. Ryan was exonerated, but he and Nina divorced.

Ryan then married Tricia, much to the disapproval of her father, Keith Dennison. Tricia became increasingly jealous of the attention Ryan lavished on Nina's son, Phillip, who he thought of as his own son. When in private, the child was hostile to Tricia, believing her to have destroyed his family. Tricia pretended to be nice to Phillip for Ryan's benefit, but she confided in her sister, Megan Dennison Viscardi, that she didn't like the boy. In desperation, Tricia stopped taking her birth control pills, unbeknown to Ryan, and she conceived a child. While Ryan was furious at first, he warmed to the idea of having a child. When Tricia miscarried, she believed that it was her punishment for deceiving her husband in the first place.

Tricia became obsessed with destroying her sister Megan's relationship with Tony Viscardi, of whom Tricia and her father disapproved. When she ran Tony down in Megan's driveway, it was suspected that Tricia had gone over the edge and intentionally killed him. Whether this allegation was true or not was never revealed. Megan disowned her sister and left town. Tricia left Ryan and moved to London, England with Keith.

Tricia returned six months later, and she asked Ryan to take her back. He turned her down because Victoria was still interested in him. Tricia then turned to Carter Mills, who was actually rapist Matt Clark, having had major reconstructive surgery. Matt drugged and slept with Tricia, before convincing him to frame Nicholas Newman, who had Matt convicted years ago. Upon discovering that she had been used, Tricia attempted suicide, but her plan was foiled by Ryan. Tricia caught Matt trying to rape Nicholas' wife, Sharon Newman. She drove off a cliff, hoping to kill them both herself and Matt. Tricia survived, but Matt died from his injuries.

Ryan and Victoria resumed their relationship. Suspicious of Tricia, Victor arranged for her to move in with him in order to keep her away from his daughter. Ryan Victoria planned to remarry, and on their wedding day, Tricia barged into the church wearing a gown identical to Victoria's, locked Victoria in a closet and took her place at the altar, pointing a gun at Ryan. Victor freed Victoria, and he convinced Tricia to leave the wedding when Victoria entered the room. Tricia shot at her, but Ryan jumped in front of Victoria, taking the bullet for her. He was rushed to hospital, with a bullet wound to the stomach causing a blockage in his colon. He died shortly after, with Victoria at his bedside. He reappeared in Victoria's dream during his funeral where they said their wedding vows. Victoria woke up with a ring on her finger.

boggle

Boggle gives you 3 minutes to find as many words (3 letters or more) as you can in a grid of 16 letters. You can also try the grid of 16 letters. Letters must be adjacent and longer words score better. See if you can get into the grid Hall of Fame !
